With the firing of a missile, the launching of a torpedo and the development of more than a hundred training exercises in naval, air, submarine and land scenarios, the 64th version of the Multinational Operation Unitas 2023 ended successfully, cataloged as the longest-lasting naval exercise in the world since its first edition in 1959.

The Caribbean Sea was chosen as the main setting for more than 4,500 sailors from different countries to meet in Colombia with the purpose of forming a Multinational Task Force that would allow them to strengthen interoperability, security, and defense in the hemisphere.

In an unprecedented deployment of capabilities, 22 warships, three submarines and more than 30 aircraft carried out electronic warfare, surface, anti-submarine, air defense, amphibious operations, maritime interdiction and special operations exercises.

Eleven days in which a total of 126 exercises were carried out in Cartagena and Coveñas that allowed the different Navies to identify common challenges to the security of the continent and prepare for transnational threats such as drug trafficking and terrorism, in addition to strengthening cooperation ties between countries.

In this version of Operation Unitas, Colombia as the host country on the occasion of the commemoration of the Naval Bicentennial of its Navy, received delegations from Germany, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, France, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Paraguay, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
