The special units of the Navy / Infamar are small but highly trained and professional, they carry out missions in infiltration, reconnaissance and sabotage. According to the academic curriculum, they received the following trainings at the Training and Instruction School of the Colombian National Army - Combat Training School - Lancero or Survival and combat in a wild environment. Military Intelligence Parachuting Amphibious reconnaissance Underwater demolitions At the end of the sea stage, six of the most notable men in the local command units were selected by the SEAL TRAINING No. 2 Mobile group of the United States Marine Corps; who later received special training as Combat Divers (Scuba). These trainings were received throughout the year of 1967 and at the end they received the title of Amphibian Commandos. In the 1980s, given the resurgence of armed subversion and the upsurge in violence, the National Navy acquired greater responsibilities on the coasts, on the southern and eastern borders, and on the river network. For this reason, the Group of Special Forces of the Navy was transformed into Battalions and its Fluvial Commands went to the Guaviare, the Meta and the Orinoco rivers, in order to reconquer these river arteries used by elements outside the law.
