On display in a VE/VJ Day exhibition currently showing at our local museum - 'Inverclyde's War - 60 years on'.
This complete flying suit belonged to the late Thomas McVey, who during WWII, flew in Lancasters of 550 Squadron, from North Killingholme, England. As far as I can ascertain from the curator, he served as an Air Gunner, Wireless Operator & possibly even as a Navigator! At the bottom of the display is a picture of Thomas McVey during his service, beside his silk escape map. There are also his instruction & log books and maps on show, altogether an amazing collection. The suit is on loan to the museum by his family.
