Killed in action in France 3 July 1916 aged 20. 18 October 1916 his sister Emily Horleston and brother in law Albert Horleston were granted a joint war gratuity. Revised 15 November 1919 and awarded to his brother Albert Horleston and sister Emily Horleston
At rest in Aveluy Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France.
War Grave inscription “In loving memory of our dear brother who gave his life for all.” Paid for by Mr A Horleston, 90 Russell Street, Dresden, Longton, Stoke on Trent.
Commemorated on the headstone of William and Mary Horleston in St Mary Churchyard Bucknall, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. His name is inscribed as William Plant Horleston.
