ALLCOCK William James. Private 105370, Machine Gun Corps, Cavalry, formerly served as Private 25854 East Surrey Regiment, died 20th November 1919 aged 44. He was the husband of Emily Allcock, of 17, Great William Street, Stratford-on-Avon. He is at rest in Stratford on Avon Cemetery, Warwickshire.

He enlisted on the 26th October 1914 and was posted to the East Surrey Regiment as private 25854. He gave his occupation as a labourer and was married with children. He was married to Emily James on the 4th October 1914 at Alcester Parish Church, Worcestershire. They had the following children, James William born 2nd March 1904, William Thomas, born 3rd August 1907, Doris Annie, born 22nd January 1910, May Emily, born 21st July 1913 and Joseph William Charles L (looks like Lens), born 15th April 1917. He served 2 years and 129 day, and his occupation given when he left the army was a market gardener. After he had completed his training he was posted the British Expeditionary Force in France on the 30th November 1916 and the same day marched into 38th Infantry Base Depot , Etaples, France to await his dispersal to his regiment. On the 1st December 1916 he was posted to the 1st Battalion and then to the 13th Battalion on the 10th December 1916. On the 23rd March 1917 he was transferred to the 21st Lancers in the field as private 4436. On the 30th April 1917 he was transferred to Machine Gun Corps, Cavalry as private 105370. He was later to be posted to the 14th Machine Gun Squadron in the field on the 23rd June 1917. He was granted home leave to England from the 10th to 24th October 1918 and on his return to France was posted to Infantry Base Depot at Camiers. The 28th December 1918 he was posted to the 1st Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry) The 7th April 1919 he was posted to Chisledon, England via Dunkirk and on the 7th May 1919 he was transferred to Army Reserve Class Z. He gave his home address as 17, Great William Street, Stratford on Avon.
