Sarah Jane ARMSTRONG. Nurse Cumberland VAD 14. and British Red Cross nursing at Military Hospital, Cairo.

Born 1883 at Penrith, Cumberland to Jonathan and Hannah Armstrong.
1891 aged 8 years residing with her parents at 25 Roper Street Whitehaven. Cumberland.
1901 with her parents at Union Lane Penrith Cumberland.
First enlisted October 1915, part time VAD Nurse Special Service to July 1916, re-engaged 24 July 1916 and was residing at 22 Castle Gate, Penrith. Stationed at Aldershot Cambridge 24 July 16 to 17 September 1917. Military Hospital Cario, Egypt from 19 January 1918. Awarded 2 Scarlet efficiency Stripes 24-9-18.

Died of pneumonia while on active 12 December 1918 in Military Hospital, Cairo.

At rest in Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
