Death of Commissary General Beale.
The Malta Times of November 22 has the following notice.
We deeply regret to announce the death of Commissary General Oswald Frederick Beale, Commissariat and Transport Staff which the sad event took place on the 17th inst at Cottonera Hospital to which place deceased was admitted on the 14th having been landed sick from the outward-bound P. and O. steamer arrived the same day on his way to Egypt, where he was appointed for duty. He was born 16th January 1837, appointed Assistant Commissary General 31st January 1880, his previous department services extending to 24 years and 226 days. Served in the Crimean campaign 1855-6, medal and Turkish medal. Deceased has lately been serving in the Bahamas.
The funeral, which took place with full military honours was of the most imposing and impressive character, the cortege leaving Cottonera Hospital for Rinella Cemetery, shortly after three o’clock on the afternoon of the 18th. The band of the Royal Sussex Regiment played the funeral march, following which was a firing party of 300 rank and file of the same regiment.

He climbed out of a window of his quarters and took hold of an earthenware pipe which ran up the building close to this window. As he started to climb down his weight was too much and the pipes came away from their fastenings. He fell to the ground and pieces of pipes fell around him. The fall was from such a height that he was killed on the spot. His funeral was held on the 17th

Military Funeral.
The funeral of the late Master Gunner J Spencer, Royal Artillery District Staff who died in the Military Hospital Cottonera on Sunday morning as already reported took place on Monday Evening when the remains were conveyed with the usual military honour from the mortuary of the Hospital to the Rinella Cemetery. The firing party was furnished by 100 Company R.G.A.., under the command of Captain Page R.G.A., the R.A. Malta Band supplying the funeral march. Upon arriving st the cemetery the sad service was impressively read by the Revnd, D.P. Winnifrith M.A.., C.F.., after which the usual three volleys were fired in the air, with the bugle calls and the "Last Post during the intervals.

T.H. WEST, Schoolmaster, Royal Army Education Corps, died 8th February 1905. His funeral was held on 10th. All the schools closed for that afternoon, and all the schoolmasters attended the funeral, as well as representatives from the various regiments. The children of the Elder School, Ricasoli, led the singing and an organ was transported to the cemetery for this occasion. The service was carried out by the Reverend John Hatton, Senior Chaplain to the Forces. He left a widow and seven children
