Peter Charles Hunter PHILLIPS. Sergeant Air Gunner 1312411 Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve 256 Squadron RAF Newtownards Airfield County Down No 1480 (Anti-Aircraft Co-Operation) Flight.
Born 1921 to Hunter Phillips, and of Elsie Phillips, of Fowcy, Cornwall.
He was part of a two-man crew flying in a Boulton Paul Defiant I N3402 night fighter aircraft during a training flight which came down and crashed Lough Mourne (the largest of the reservoirs in Woodburn Forest) east of Ballycarry County Antrim, Northern Ireland 9 July 1942 age 22 years old. The other crew member was Sergeant Air Gunner Peter Charles Hunter Phillips 256 Sqdn RAF killing both. The other crew member was Polish Pilot Kapral Henryk Komenda. Both are at rest in Movilla Cemetery Newtownards County Down, Northern Ireland.
