This images shows a Nazi German military funeral procession. I do not know where or when the photo was taken, or whose funeral is shown. As far as I know, this image has never been published. The original snapshot print was captured by a US soldier with Patton\'s 3rd Army who in 2015 is still alive (age about 90) and who permitted me to scan this image for sharing.
Firstly welcome to MI.net skb8721
What a great photo, I hope some of our members/viewers will be able to cast some light on its content. Thanks for sharing it
Although the Nazi Regime is despised and rightly so, this photo shows normal German soldiers honouring a fellow comrade and exhibits that mutual respect that all soldiers have for each other and how they feel the loss of a brother in arms.
Excellent photo would be nice to know more about the soldier being honoured.
A great photo and cool introduction to MI.Net well done and welcome friend.
Thanks for your comments. It's funny, I didn't view the images in a large format until I saw them uploaded here. I now see there are some airplanes in the background, suggesting this photo was taken at a German airbase. Also, is not that the Luftwaffe symbol on the Germans' helmets?
Also, I am guessing that the words on the building at right are "RAuchen verboten", which means "No Smoking." So Google tells me. (I don't know German.)
