L187 STEPHEN GRIFFIN. Stoker 1st Class D/K64428. Royal Navy on HMS Egmont II (Walrus). Born 29th October 1905 at Pendlebury, Lancashire to Michael and Mary Grffin nee Donohue. 1911 residing with his parents and siblings at 22 Wellington Street, Pendleton, Lancashire. Enlisted 6th May 1929, occupation prior to enlistment, collier. Died at Royal Navy Hospital, Malta 4th October 1931 aged 28 years of multiple injuries. He had a fracture and dislocation of the superior cervical vertebrae caused by diving into shallow water at Rinella Bay. His father was informed of his death 5th October 1931.
