L189 GEORGE WILLIAM PATRICK NASON. Sergeant, PO/157738. Royal Marine Light Infantry. Born 30th June 1897 at Gosport to George William and Elizabeth Nason, nee Murphy. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at 7 Cobden Street, Alverstoke, Hampshire. His father was serving in the Royal Marines and died in 1909 in Cork, Ireland. Enlisted 13th July 1911 at Belfast and joined as Bugler at Portsmouth 15 July 1911. He re-engaged at Southampton 6 August 1923. He drowned in an attempt to rescue Marine (D618 Percy William Charles YALDEN) on the 26th December 1932 aged 35. His body was recovered 28th December 1932. Son of George W and Elizabeth Nason. Wills and Admin, Ancestry - His home address was 38 Harcourt Road, Gosport, Hampshire died on date stated. Marine Yalden’s body was recovered on the 29th December 1932. His effects went to Kathleen Edith Patricia Nason, nee Beatty, his widow.
