Sergeant 23710622 John HAUGHEY. Royal Artillery. Born 18th April 1941 killed by an Improvised Explosive Device on Lonemoor Road, (Bogside) Londonderry while on foot patrol 21st January 1974 aged 32 . He had taken cover alongside an electricity junction box when the 10lb bomb was detonated. He sustained severe injuries to his chest and stomach and later died in hospital. (Northern Ireland Vetrans Association). At rest in Southern Cemetery, Manchester. This memorial plaque is at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire.
