Kinross-Shire Advertiser 25th May 1918:
Death of a Noted V.A.D. Worker
We regret to have to record the death of Miss Isabella Cousins who will be a loss to her many friends in Kinross-shire. Miss Cousins was a native of Dollar where she joined the Voluntary Aid Detachment at its inception before the outbreak of war. Subsequently she undertook two years training in a Fever Hospital but volunteered for Military Work shortly after the outbreak of war.
When Tillyrie Red Cross Hospital was opened in June, 1915, Miss Cousins was appointed Night Sister to the hospital in which capacity she gave her devoted services for a considerable time and eventually received an appointment at Bangour War Hospital where she continued her work for the sick and wounded until the time of her death from a disease contracted in the course of her duty. The funeral took place in Dollar on Monday last.
Miss Cousins was particularly suited to the work for which she had given the greater part of her life, and its premature end was entirely due to her devotion to duty and zeal in the interests of the patients under her charge.
