Son of John Bertram and Gertrude Mary Marsden-Smedley, of Lea Green, Matlock, Derbyshire.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Dethick, Lea and Holloway Cemetery, Derby.

John Bertram Aubrey MARSDEN-SMEDLEY Born 24 September 1893 at Hanover Square, London to John Bertram Marsden-Smedley and Gertrude Mary nee Lea. Died 23 August 1959 at Redleaf Nursing Home, Penshurst, Kent. He resided at 31 Draycott Place, London S.W.3. His effects went to Andrew Bethel Mardsen-Smedley, management consultant, Penelope Ann and Agatha Susan Marsden-Smedley, spinsters.

Commander in the Royal Navy. Served in China on HMS MINOTAUR, 1913, on HMS LYDIARD, 1914-1915, HMS HARDY, 1917, and in Baltic on HMS VEGA, 1920
