Extended Description: George Edwin WHITFIELD. Private 36001, 8th South Staffordshire Regiment, died eldest son, killed in action 12 October 1917, aged 26. He was the eldest son of John and Sarah Ann of Main Street, Alrewas, Staffordshire. He is commemorated on his parents memorial in All Saints churchyard, Alrewas, Staffordshire and also on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium
