G131 CHARLES HENRY SPERRING. Lieutenant Engineer Royal Navy on HMS Active. Born 7 July 1892 at Greenwich, London to Thomas and Sarah Ann Sperring nee Harper. In 1901 he was residing with his parents and siblings at Roberta Cottage, Greenwich. Enlisted 3 January 1903 as Boy Artificer M121 on HMS Fisgard. He came up through the ranks as promoted Engine Room Artificer 2nd class 1 November 1915. 1911 aged 18 in the Royal Navy. 1919 he married Lilian Alice Brumham at Havant, Hampshire. Died in Royal Naval Hospital, Bighi, Malta 13 November 1937 aged 45 years of broncho pneumonia and chronic nephritis.
Unnamed burial. At rest in Plot G grave 131 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
