F049 ARTHUR JOHN HUNTLEY (DECLARATION) (2)

Extended Description
F049 ARTHUR JOHN HUNTLEY. Flight-Sergeant, 410488, 485 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force stationed at RAF Luqa, Malta. Born 5 October 1918 at Mornington, on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria to Percy William and Nellie Jane Huntley, of Merricks North, Victoria, Australia. He enlisted 20 January 1942 aged 23 years at No7 Recruiting Centre RAAF, Victoria, Australia civilian occupation, orchardist. In the evening of the 23 January 1944 he was crew of Wellington Bomber on air operations which had to be ditched after engine failure. He was admitted to Naval Sick Bay, Augusta, Sicily suffering from shock, he was later discharged fit for duty.

On the 19th April 1944 aged 25 years he was killed in an aircraft crash about 21.00 hrs at RAF Luqa.
