Edward SIMMS, (Naval record show SIMS) Telegraphist 238959, Royal Navy on HMS Yarmouth. Born 25th August 1891 at Ventnor Isle of Wight. He may have been the son of Frederick and Eliza Sims of Commercial Hotel, High Street, Ventor, Isle of Wight. His father was Hotel Keeper. Enlisted 10th January 1907, occupation prior to enlistment, page boy. Died 5th July 1913 aged 21 from disease of the ear and septic pneumonia in a hospital in Malta. His step-brother was informed of his death 5th July 1913. His memorial stone was erected by the ship's company. At rest in Plot B Grave 224, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
