Daniel HIGGINS. Fusilier 6980100, 70th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
Born 19 February 1916 to Robert and Ellen Higgins nee Houston at St John’s Place, Larne County Antrim
Died in Newtownards by enemy action 16 April 1941. At rest in Movilla Cemetery Newtownards County Down, Northern Ireland.

A severe Air-Raid on Belfast took place last night lasting from 2245 hrs. till 0430 hrs. Other towns in Northern Ireland were also attacked. Principal damage in Belfast appeared to be to the Antrim Road and Shankill Road areas. Newtownards Aerodrome was attacked with a considerable number of incendiary bombs and a few H.E. (High Explosive) bombs. One H.E. fell in the hutments of A Company Headquarters. Casualties were 10 killed and 15 wounded. Among the casualties were Lt G.M. King (acting Company Commander) wounded C.S.M. Penfold killed. CQMS McMurray severely wounded later died of his injuries.
