- D684 LESLIE ARTHUR CYRIL PAINTIN. Able Seaman P/JX133896 Royal Navy on HMS Douglas. Born 17 March 1914 in Swindon, Wiltshire to William John Henry and Maud Amelia Pantin nee Hewit. Died 29th June 1937 aged 23 of heart failure from an embolism in the lungs caused by submarine escape practice.
