The Special Forces Beret Badge is worn on a Maroon Beret.

Both the Maroon Beret and the maroon background of the Beret Badges denote the Airborne Capability of the Special Forces Regiments.

The Beret Badge is comprised of a Compass Rose in the centre of a Laurel Wreath.

The Compass Rose is the emblem of the South African Special Forces. It denotes the ability and willingness of the South African Special Forces to Deploy and Operate in any location, by any method, in any situation, under any circumstances, in any terrain, anywhere, at any time.

The Laurel Wreath denotes Victory.

Excellent stuff mate, I have not seen any of these insignias before.
Thanks very much. I had fun reading the wannabe section on the Special Forcesweb site, where these pics came from. Unfortunately there are a lot of this type of people about.
