BURKE Charles Claude Private PO/16006 Royal Marine Light Infantry on HMS Grafton. Born 21 February 1897 at Stepney London, died at Malta 26 September 1918 aged 21 of peritonitis following appendicitis. Memorial erected by ship company as a token of respect. In 1901 he was residing with his parents Charles and Ellen Burke and his siblings at 55 Stephney Green Buildings, Mile End Old Town, London. 1911 aged 14 he was student at the Royal Hospital Schools Including Trafalgar Quarters, School For Sons Of Seamen, Romney Road, Greenwich S E. About the time of his death his parents were residing at 47 Athlone Road, Upper Tulse Hill, London. His mother was informed of his death and she was at the Estate Office, Brady Street Flats, London N.E.1. At rest in Plot C Grave 388 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
