A/C.I Harold Roy Lee lost his life as the result of a collision in the air which occurred near Uffington, Lincs, on November 3 between two aircraft of No.23 (Fighter) Squadron, Wittering, Northants. Sgt Jack Arnold Bullard was the pilot and A/C.I Lee the occupant of one aircraft and P/O Arthur Edward Slocombe was the pilot and sole occupant of the other aircraft. The two pilots were not injured.

They were in a Hawker Demon Mk I Registration number K5712 of 23 Squadron RAF. The location of the accident was at Barholm, nr Stamford, Lincolnshire, England
Ethel Lilian (Vicki), SLOCOMBE nee Bedford Born 9th February 1916 aged 88 years, died peacefully on 25th April 2004 at Oxford wife of the late "Slogger" Slocombe, in 1964 both were residing at Sharps Lane, Hillingdon, London
Commemorated on a memorial plaque at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire
