Adam DONALDSON. Private 85849, 228th Machine Gun Corps (Infantry)
Born at Dundonald County Down 19 September 1893 to William and Mary Jane Donaldson of Whitespots, Helen Bay County Down. 1917 his parents were residing at 25 Victoria Avenue, Newtownards. Killed in action in Belgium 22 September 1917 aged 24 years. His father was granted a war gratuity 14 February 1918 revised 12 November 1919.

Enlisted 14 February 1916, posted to Army Reserve the next day to await his mobilization. 14 December 1916 mobilized and posted to 56 Training Reserve Battalion. 11 December 1917 transferred to the Machine Gun Training Centre Belton Park Camp, Grantham. 11 July 1917 with 228 Coy M.G.C., France.
Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial Belgium and on a family Memorial at Movilla Cemetery Newtownards County Down, Northern Ireland
