the nucleus of
No 8 Beach Group.
Landed on Juno Beach on D-Day 6 June 1944 in Support of the 3rd Canadian Division and provided a beach head through which troops, tanks, vehicles and 319,980 tons of supplies were landed until the Mulberry Harbour was fully operational. Beach groups were the principal supply points for the Allied Forces

They were married 20 June 1936 at St James the Less Bethnal Green, Green. At the time of marriage, he was residing at 13 Woolpack Place Morning Lane, Bethnal Green. Both were aged 23 years at marriage.
Died 6th June 1944 age 31 years.
At rest in Bayeux War Cemetery, France.
