This is an interesting photo, I haven't seen a 'US Gurkha Ranger' before, anybody know anything about them? mil-smile07

I haven't been able to locate anything at all on Gurhka's in US service but I can see that the nameboard in the photo also has "OSS" around the image of the kukri.

I have been able to find that the OSS had a unit called Detachment 101 that trained and deployed some 10,000 guerrilla fighters, mainly Kachin Burmese against the Japanese in Burma.

Although I can't link this image to Detachment 101, I am pretty convinced that it portrays a member of that detachment in OSS service, given that the unit deployed "mainly" Kachin which would suggest there were other indigenous fighters also used.
