Hey everyone,
i wanted to show you that picture, taken during an Operation in Mali . It shows a french special forces soldier during the operation that killed aqim leader in june 2020.

The thing is that i was wondering what scope this soldier is using on his HK416A5 . I’m pretty sure it is an aimpoint microT1 with a magnifier wich is quite standard in that unit.I’m also sure it’s not a CompM4 or M2 because of the verge on the back of the scope and because of the mount (seems to be two mounts of two differents colours on the upper)

I agree, looks like an Aimpoint CompM4.

It cant be a CompM4 alone it would be way too short plus the verge on the back of the scope and the front of the scope would protrude much more

Except the picture isn't directly from the side like these, it's from the rear right. The perspective is different to that of marketing and PR pictures.

so where is the battery cylinder on the right side then ?

You can see the front of the battery cylinder, I imagine the back of it is obscured by the angle and sketchy lighting.
