Colombian Air Force in the Antartica Region

Mission accomplished, Colombia's VII Air Campaign in Antarctica ended successfully

With new crews certified in polar operations, the commission that represented the country in different scenarios of air operations and scientific research on the White Continent returned to Colombia successfully.

The VII Antarctic Air Campaign and XI Scientific Expedition met two main objectives: the first was to reach the terrain directly using aircraft and crews from the Colombian Aerospace Force, demonstrating the capacity for global reach; the second was interoperability and the outstanding relations of International Cooperation of Colombia with sister countries such as Argentina and Chile.

A total of 21,549 kilometers traveled, 14 Colombian researchers, scientists transported and cargo from other countries such as Argentina, Chile, Spain and Germany, were transported to the bases in Antarctica, all of this supported by a logistics team of aeronautical maintenance, a meticulous planning for several months, to leave the name of the country very high, materializing for the seventh time, the arrival of the "Antarctic", the C-130 Hercules aircraft with registration FAC 1005 on this continent, demonstrating the work of Colombia in supporting research for the preservation of the largest freshwater reserve on the planet.

Once again, the members of the Colombian Aerospace Force ratify the commitment to the preservation of the environment in Colombia and the world, strengthening their air capabilities and the ties of International Cooperation.
