Marine CH17756, H.M.S. Repulse, died of lung oedema after an illness whilst serving abroad
23rd April 1931
Buried in St Mary's churchyard, Acton, Cheshire
1916 REPULSE With her sister-ship the Renown, Repulse was another attempt to realise the elusive 30 knot/30,000 ton capital ship, foregoing armour and substituting more powerful machinery, rely ing on speed for protection.
Leading other Royal Navy capital ships during maneuvers, circa the later 1920s.
The next ship astern is HMS Renown. The extensive external side armor of Repulse and the larger "bulge" of Renown allow these ships to be readily differentiated.
