EXERCISE RELAMPAGO IX-24

RELAMPAGO 9-24.jpg

With the purpose of training flight techniques, tactics and procedures, the Relámpago IX-24 operational exercise was carried out, in which the Colombian KFIR, ECN-235, KC-767, C-295 special operations aircraft and helicopter participated. UH-60, by the United States aircraft type FA-18, EA-18 and F-35, and the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier “USS George Washington” that arrived in Colombian Pacific waters near Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca , so that foreign air superiority aircraft could take off from there and carry out air combat exercises with Colombia within the framework of the tenth “Southern Seas” operation.

This is an exercise that seeks to train the Institution's pilots in air and space operations for dominance in the air and achieve air superiority with a focus on national defense in which, for this ninth version, the Colombian Air Force, the Colombian Navy and the United States Navy, who deployed tactical units over the Pacific Ocean to carry out air defense and naval tactics exercises with combined operations under NATO standards.

For several days, defensive and offensive air counterpower missions, in-flight refueling, command and control, electronic protection, space operations were carried out with the participation of the SpOC Space Operations Center, located at the “Marco Fidel Suárez” Military Aviation School, and search and rescue in order to achieve and maintain air superiority in the area of operations.Relámpago included a series of advanced training in a highly dynamic and realistic scenario, allowing participating forces to perfect their skills and operational procedures in situations of extreme complexity. As well as, strengthen the protocols in the maintenance area that will be put into practice in future international exercises and during the daily readiness of the Institution's aircraft to guarantee operability and safety in flight with a view to the Relámpago X-2025 operational exercise.

With this exercise it is evident once again that the pilots and crew members of the Colombian Air Force are trained with the highest standards to operate with any force at an international level and continue to successfully fulfill the institutional mission.
