YATES Thomas

YATES Thomas, Driver 93393, Royal Field Artillery died 5th December 1918 aged 27. He was the son of William and Mary Ann, of Number 6, Court, Wolverhampton Street, Willenhall and was the husband of Annie Hill (formerly Yates) nee Barleton, of 216, Monmer Lane, Willenhall. In 1911 he was working as a Bobber. He is at rest in Bentley Cemetery, Willenhall, Staffordshire
Some notes from what remains of his army record.
He enlisted on the 2nd February 1915 aged 23 years and 88 days. He lived at Number 2, Court, 6. House, Bloxwich Road, Willenhall. and his occupation was a dresser. He was transferred to 5C Reserve Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. It appears that he spent most of his army life in hospital suffering from Asthma and Bronchitis.
From the 5th July 1915 to 21st August 1915 he was in The Castle, Edinburgh
31st March 1916 to 11th April 1916, Colchester General Hospital
11th April 1916 to 1st May 1916 Auxiliary Hospital (Red Cross) Woodhouse Street, Great Horkesley
29th October 1916 to 18th January 1917, Bradford War Hospital (now called St Lukes Hospital) He was now suffering from Fibrous Lungs, Asthma and Bronchitis. He was discharged as unfit for further service.
