William Routston BOND

Extended Description
Captain 425021 William Routston BOND, 5th County Londonderry Battalion. Died of his wound ten after being shot by the PIRA outside his home at Harding Street,off Abercorn Road Londonderry on 7th November 1976 aged 53. He was off duty when he was shot (No burial location given). The 25 November 1976 the UFF shot dead James Loughrey aged 35 for the shooting of William.

A 53 year old UDR man was attacked as he arrived at his home in Harding Street, Derry, after work. The gunmen opened fire with pistols at point blank range. Five or six shots were fired from the doorway of a nearby house hitting the man in the stomach
