Sergeant RMA.5800 William Ramsey Garwood, Royal Marine Artillery of H.M.S. Bacchante.
Born 28 May 1876 at Full Sutton, East Yorkshire to Edmund Mason and Martha Thomasina Garwood.
1881 with his parents and siblings at Heworth, Yorkshire.
1891 with his parents and siblings at 02 Studley Street, Clifton, Yorkshire, occupation age 13, gardners help.
31 January 1896 enlisted into the Royal Marine Artillery.
He married Minnie Parlett, April 1902 at Portsmouth, Hampshire.
Enlisted as Private 5800 on the 31 January 1896 at York and posted the same day to Marine Depot, Deal, Kent.
Died in Bighi Naval Hospital, Kalkara, Malta 11 April 1910 of a bullet wound of his abdomen whilst endeavouring to obtain a revolver from the custody of a gunner of the Royal Marine Artillery when the weapon discharged through mishap or design.
He was laid to rest on the morning 12 at Bighi Naval Cemetery, Malta.
