William James SCRIVEN. Petty Officer 2nd Class 172461 Royal Navy on HMS Prince of Wales. Born 6th February 1878 at Portsea, Hampshire, enlisted 17th April 1893, occcupation prior to enlistment, shop boy. Died 17th January 1906 aged 28 years from a fracture to his skull. He fell from from a wall about 20 feet high near Valletta, Malta on the 16th January and died of in injuries the following day in a civil hospital in Malta. His widow of 60 Toots Road, Buckland, Portsmouth was informed of his death on the 18th January 1906. In 1901 he was serving in the Royal Navy on HMS Prince George in Gibraltar aged 23 as Leading Seaman.
