William Henry MURTAGH. Inspector Royal Ulster Constabulary. The 6 February 1976 he was shot 3 times in the back at point blank range along with Inspector William Henry Murtagh, while on foot patrol. near Cliftonville Circus, Belfast. They were shot from behind by terrorist gunmen Sergeant Blakeley was hit five timed and died instantly. He died in the Royal Victoria Hospital from his injuries the following day 7th aged 31. At rest in Roselawn Cemetery, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
