William Harry CORNES

William Harry CORNES. Able Seaman J94454, Royal Navy on HMS Emperor of India. Born 18th April 1898 at Clunbury Shropshire, enlisted 25th January 1919 on HMS Courageous, occupation prior to enlistment Royal Navy late BZ9247. Died 31st October 1919 aged 21 years in a Military Hospital in Malta of a fracture to the base of his skull from a accident on shore. His aunt, Charlotte Hudson of 10 Cluns Green Ashton-on-Clun Shropshire was informed of his death.
This headstone was erected by the ship's company of HMS Empress of India.
