William Ernest DALTON, Thomas LEWIS, Edgar Charles WORBY

DALTON William Ernest. Driver, T1/1723, 113th Horse Transport Coy., 11th Divisional Train, Royal Army Service Corps, died 6th August 1916, aged 39 years. He was the husband of Eugenie Louisa Dalton, of 3 Back, 56 Hockley Hill, Birmingham and the son of Richard and Anabella. He had the following children - Ernest William. Born 4th July 1901, baptised on the 21st July 1901, Harold Guthrie. Born 10th August 1903, baptised 10th August 1903 and Horace Wilfred. Born 2nd June 1905, baptised on the 14th June 1905, at All Saints Church, Hockley, Birmingham. The 1901 census shows that he was living at 3, Derby Terrace, Rosebery Street, Birmingham, occupation, Fruiterer with a son called Augustus aged 5. This boy was Oscar Augusta Erard.
Some notes from his army record. He joined up on the 29th August 1914 at Aldershot, aged 34 and 204 days. Occupation, horse carter. He was married to Eugenie Louisa Erard (French subject) at Birmingham Registry Office. 1900 and they were living at 3, Lane, of 56, Hockley Hill, Hockley, Birmingham, with their sons Harold born 10th August 1904 (1903) and Horace born 27th July 1905. He embarked on the 30th January 1916 on H T Argyllshire at Devonport bound for Salonica where his disembarked on the 14th February 1916 and later posted to No 2 Company, 26th Divisional Train. On the 20th July 1916 he was admitted into 29th Field Ambulance suffering from Myopia. On the 1st August 1916 he was in St David's Military Hospital, Malta where he died of Pneumonia at 3.15 am on the morning of 6th August 1916.

LEWIS Thomas. Private, 15874, 8th, South Wales Borderers, died 9th August 1916, aged 22 years. He was the son of Mr. J.H. Lewis, of 49 Bellem Road, Cwmbran, Newport, Monmouthshire.

WORBY Edgar Charles . Private, 3130, A Coy., 2nd, East Surrey Regiment. Died of malaria, 12th August 1 916, aged 25 years. The son of Mr. G.C. and Mary Worby, of Rushton Park, Kettering.
