B129 William Ernest ASHFORD Yeoman of Signals, 2nd Class 179599 Royal Navy on HMS Lancaster. Born 14th June 1878 at Bromley by Bow, London, enlisted 22nd May 1894, occupation prior to enlistment telegraph messenger. Died 6th August 1906 aged 28 years of haematemesis and haemorrhage following a gastric ulcer at Royal Naval Hospital, Malta. His mother Mrs Ashford of 36 Marner Street, Bromley by Bow was informed of his death on the 7th August 1906.
