DAWSON, William. Corporal, 3/9138, 6th Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles, died 18th September 1917 at Imtarfa Hospital, Malta. He was native of Belfast, Ireland and he was the husband of Elizabeth.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He joined up aged 32 on the 22nd August 1914. He lived at 10 Townsend Street, Shankill, Belfast with his wife and children, and he was by occupation a labourer at the shipyard. On the 18th May 1915 he was posted to France where he remained, having leave to England several times. On the 29th September 1916 he was posted the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, location not shown. On the 3rd January 1908 he married Miss Elizabeth Jenkins at the Holy Trinity Church, Belfast. There were two children, Eliza, born on the 25th August 1912 at 29, Mossvale Street, Belfast and Margaret born on the 1st September 1914 at 10, Townsend Street, Belfast. His parents were called John and Jane and he lived with them at 22 Agnes Street, Shankill, Belfast.

MARTIN, William. Private, 35923, 8th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers, died 16th September 1917 at Tigne Military Hospital. He was the husband of Janet.

JOHNSTON John. Sapper, 18714, 28th Fortress Coy., Royal Engineers, died 18th September 1917. He was married and had a son, no other information available, source. UK, Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects, 1901-1929. He was native of Glasgow, and enlisted at Belfast.
