William COOKE Army Service Corps, died 23rd September 1918 aged 25.
He is not mentioned on the CWGC Screen Wall nor listed with the CWGC
Buried in a Public Grave at Key Hill Cemetery, Hockley, Birmingham, West Midlands. This is not a paupers grave. The grave may be 40 feet deep and at a rough guess 24 feet square, built of brick. There may be as many as a 100 burials, and those families who could afford an inscription are named on the marker, those who could not, their loved ones are lost for ever. The markers are double sided with graves, and there are many such markers and graves in this cemetery, some of the markers have been destroyed by time and weather.
The C W G C have erected a screen wall in this area with names and the grave marker inscribed. I have not located all the markers.
