CLIXBY William Herbert. Gunner, 98968, 57th Brigade H.Q., Royal Field Artillery, died 30th October 1916, aged 24 years. The son of F.W. and B.E. Clixby, of 62 Melton Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham.
GAINEY Charles. Private, 21018, 14th, The Kings Liverpool Regiment, He fell ill in Salonica died of his illness in Malta on the 28th October 1916. He was born at Garston, Liverpool. Some notes from what remains of his army records. He joined up on the 3rd November 1914 at Seaforth, Liverpool aged 36 years and 210 days, He worked on the railways as a brakesman. He was married to Miss Margaret Griffiths on the 30th April 1902 at the parish church of Garston. He was living with his parents William and Ann and his siblings at 48, Vulcan Street, Garston and his wife was living with her parents at 49, Window Lane, Garston. (in 1911 he was living with his wife and inlaws) His widowed mother in 1919 was living at 68, Vulcan Street, Garston. On the 4th September 1915 he was fighting at the front in France. He left France on the 27th October 1915 bound for the Balkans. On the 28th August 1916 he fell ill and was admitted to 68th Field Ambulance the next day he was admitted to 28th General Hospital, Balkans suffering from dysentery. He was transferred and admitted on the 8th October 1916 to Cottonera Military Hospital, Valletta, Malta where he died of dysentery on the 28th October 1916. He left a wife and four children. George William, born 6th February 1904, Charles John, born 30th April 1906, Florence May born 12th May 1909 and Lily, born 18th May 1915.
DOODY Sidney Harold James. Private, 21734, 10th Hampshire Regiment. He was medically transferred from the Balkans, and died in Malta 22nd October 1916. He was born in Portsmouth
