B230 William BURR, Stoker 1st Class K12271, Royal Navy, HMS Black Prince, aged 20 years 11 months. Born 16 February 1892 at Shaftesbury Dorset, enlisted 1st August 1911, occupation prior to enlistment, labourer Died 6th February 1914 aged 20 years and 11 months. His body found 6th February 1914 with a fracture of the base of his skull and multiple injuries in a ditch of St James Bastion, Valletta while on leave.
Court of Inquiry found that the man fell from the Bastion while under the influence of drink. His stone was erected by the Officers and Ship's Company of HMS Black Prince as a token of esteem. His mother was informed of his death 6th February 1914.
