William Alfred EVANS. Leading Seaman, Signalman 239670, Royal Navy on HMS Orion. Born 4th April 1885 af Forest Hill, London, enlisted 20th September 1907, occupation prior to enlistment, Able Seaman SS639. Died 15th August 1908 aged 22 of a duodenal ulcer and haemorrhage in a hospital in Malta. His mother was informed of his death 17th August 1908. He first enlisted on the 27th June 1904, occupation prior to enlistment, bottler.
Stephen HAYDON. Ordinary Seaman 227563, Royal Navy on HMS Goliath. Born 28th February 1888 at Portsmouth, Hampshire, He may have been the son of Henry and Maria, nee Howell. In 1891 he was living with his parents and siblings at 9 Wiltshire Place, Portsea. Enlisted 11th August 1903,occupation prior to enlistment, shoeblack. Died in a hospital in Malta 4th November 1908 aged 20 of a fractured of skull, compression of his brain, when he fell into a dry dock in Malta. Court of Inquiry found that no one was to blame and the Verdict at the Inquest was, accidental death. His brother was informed of his death 25th November 1908.
