Wibberley, William Albert

Sergeant 1448, 1/6th Sherwood Foresters killed in action 30th September 1915. Son of William Henry and Isabella of the Brown Lion Hotel, Market Place, Ashbourne. He attested 13th November 1911 and trained in the Army Camp at Clumber Park, Scarborough, his occupation was given as an Apprentice Plumber. He fought and was killed in action in France 30th September 1916. For some reason he is commemorated on the Menin Gate.

Commemorated on a family memorial at St Oswalds churchyard, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, and also on the Menin Gate memorial, Ypres, Belgium although he was killed in France
