Howard Barlow (Memorial has R.G A) (CWGC Sergeant Major T/1069 William Howard Barlow, Royal Army Ordnance Corps died in France 2nd May 1917. He is at rest in Faubourg D'Amiens Cemetery, Arras. (Willis and Administration) Acting Sergeant Major William Howard Royal Army Ordnance Corps died in France 2nd May 1917. He lived at Weston-on-Trent Staffordshire and was son of Mary Ann. (widow) (Medal Card shows that he gained commission as 2nd Lieutenant on the 1st May 1917 and his address was given as Mrs M A Barlow (Mother) of Church Cottage, Weston near Stafford. (No Howard Barlow serving with the RGA is listed with the CWGC)

Stephen Dainty, Private 509914 Labour Corps and formerly Private 4510 North Staffordshire Regiment. He was the son of James and Mary Ann who in 1911 were living at Weston, near Stafford. He was born at Great Haywood, Staffordshire No record with the CWGC but a death has been found for a person with the same who died in 1919 aged 27 in the registration district of Stone, Staffordshire

Alfred Devey, Rifleman S/13152, 7th Rifle Brigade killed in action on the 13th August 1916 aged 27. He was the son of Edward William and Gertrude of 9, Shirleywich, Weston, Staffordshire He enlisted on the 15th June 1915 aged 25 years and was employed as a gamekeeper. He was posted to France on the 9th September 1915. He is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial, Somme, France

Sydney Fradley, Private 55758, 2nd Welsh Regiment, formerly Private 32076 North Staffordshire Regiment killed in action 23rd October 1918 aged 21. He was the son of Thomas and Winnifred of Rose Cottage, Weston, Staffordshire

Albert Francis Godridge, (Memorial has K.S.L.I. King's Shropshire Light Infantry) Private 44526, 1st Somerset Light Infantry formerly Private 12626 8th Shropshire Light Infantry. He died 2nd September 1918 aged 26. He was the son of John and Agnes of Weston upon Trent and brother to Harry, Ernest, George, Reginald and Wilfred who all served their country and survived the ordeal. He is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France

John (Jack) Johnson Private L/10858 Royal West Kent Regiment, formerly 9193, 17th Lancers killed in action 9th March 1916 aged 19. Born in Weston lived in Fenton and enlisted in Stafford all in Staffordshire. He was the son of John and Mary Jane of 4, Foundry Street, Stoke on Trent. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France

Harry Lee, Guardsman 18195, 4th Grenadier Guards killed in action on the 27th September 1915. Born in London and enlisted at Stafford and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France (CWGC has Henry Lee) His full name could have been Frank Henry, see Kenneth.

Kenneth Lee, Lincs Regiment His full name was Kenneth Archibald but he was known as Kenneth. Private 86772, 58th Machine Gun Corps died of wounds on the 20th May 1918 aged 32. He was the son of John Henry and Elizabeth Mary of 107 Arthur Street, Derby and husband of Ellen of Dodsley, Leigh, Stoke on Trent. He is at rest in Contay British Cemetery, Contay, Somme, France. What remains of his army record shows that he joined up at Lichfield on the 19th April 1916 aged 29 years and 9 months and his occupation was a dairyman.
and gave his address as Weston, Stafford. His next of kine was his wife Ellen nee Adams who he married on the 21st February 1916 at Leigh parish church, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. They had one child a daughter named Ellen Lilian born 23rd November 1917 at Leigh. They were all living Dodsley, Leigh, Stoke on Trent. When he joined up he was posted as Private 22820 North Staffordshire Regiment and was mobilised with the same regiment. 27th April he was transferred to No7 Service Works Company, Lincolnshire Regiment as Private 203128. On the 26th February he was once again transferred at private 86772 4th Machine Gun Corps. On the 8th April 1917 he embarked with the 4th Machine Gun Corps to France disembarking the same day at Boulogne and joined his Company in the field on the 16th April. He was wounded in action, shot in the back on the 30th May 1918. He was treated the same day at 2/3rd Home Counties Field Ambulance but died of his wounds the same day. He had only one sibling and that was Frank Henry aged 30. I wonder if he is the same person as Harry/Henry, above.

Gunner 89442, 67th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery died 21st April 1943 aged 24. He was the son of Isaac Arthur and Eleanor of Gosforth, Newcastle-on-Tyne. He is at rest in Medjez-El-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia
