WARBURTON Albert

WARBURTON, Albert, Lance Corporal, 9th Cheshire Regiment killed in France September 1915. He was the son of John and Mary Ann of Winsford, Cheshire. "He was sometime Organ Blower, Communicant, Bible class member, S School councillor and Vicar's swimming cup champion. I have done my duty. (CWGC) Corporal 12360, died 13th September 1915 aged 26. His mother had remarried and was called Allman, of 168 Weaver Street, Winsford. He is commemorated on his parents memorial in St Chad Churchyard, Over, Cheshire and is at rest in Brown's Road Military Cemetery, Festubert, France. Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted on the 2nd September 1914 and was posted to the depot the same day. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on the 24th October 1914 and then Acting Corporal on the 27th March 1915. He embarked Folkestone on the 19th July1915 and was killed in action on the 13th September 1915.
