Memorial and window in St Michael and All Angels, Poulton, Gloucestershire

The eastern wind was given by Major Alexander Black Mitchell (Somerset Light Infantry) of Poulton Priory 1880 - 1972 as a memorial to his wife Vera Margaret Mitchell and their son Lieutenant Michael Bradstock Alexander Mitchell and daughter Janet Lockett Mitchell who were all killed by enemy action 18th June 1944 when the Guards Chapel in Wellington Barracks s was hit by a V1 flying bomb in the midst of a service.
Vera was 50 when she was killed and working with the (W.V.S.) Womens Voluntary Service
Janet Lockett killed aged 20 and working for the British Red Cross Society
Lieutenant 186914, Michael Bradstock Alexander 3rd Coldstream Guards . He is commemorated on a memorial in Golders Green Crematorium, Middlesex
