Vera Louisa WILLENBRUCH. Daughter of Sergeant Charles Frederick and Mabel Lilian, nee Drew, Royal Garrison Artillery. Born 2nd January and died at Malta 10th January 1911 aged 9 days.(Joint grave with two other babies Dorothy Mable BOWLER and Fredrick George Howland ROSE, not related) At rest in Plot 1, Row 23, Grave 14, Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.

Charles Frederick Willenbruch. He was born on the 6th April 1869 at Clapham, London son of George and Louisa. In 1871 he was living with his parents and siblings at 73 North Street, Clapham. In 1881 he now living with his parents at 16 D Block, Peabody Buildings, Soho, London. He married Miss Mabel Lillian Drew at Avonmouth, Bristol on the 22nd March 1904. They had the following children. Ernest Walter, born 14th June 1905 at Buncrana, County Donegal. Bertram Charles, born 12th September 1907 at Valletta, Malta. Vera Louisa born 2nd January 1911 at Valletta, Malta and died 10th January 1911 at Malta.
Some notes from his army records
He joined the army on the 3rd December 1894 aged 23 and a wheelwright by profession. His mother Louisa was his next of kin and she lived at 151 Lupus Street, Pimlico, London, later his wife Mabel Lillian of 1 Ringford Road, West Hill, Wandsworth. became his next of kin. On the 4th December 1894 he was posted to the Royal Artillery, Western Division Depot at Crownhill Fort, Plymouth as private 7255. The 1st April 1894 he was posted to 4th Mountain Artillery. He extended his service to 12 years with the colours, promoted Wheeler Corporal, on the 1st April 1905 with 15th Coy, Royal Garrison Artillery. Re-engaged at Londonderry, Ireland to complete 21 years service with the colours. Posted as Wheeler Corporal, on the 12th February 1907 to 96th Coy, Royal Garrison Artillery. 9th August 1908 promoted to Wheeler Sergeant, then Wheeler Staff Sergeant on the 9th August 1911. The 12th August 1908 he was posted to 96 Company Royal Garrison Artillery, Malta and left Malta on the 18th April 1912 and was posted to England. On the 28th August 1914 he was posted Royal Garrison Artillery, school of gunnery, Shrewsbury. He was promoted on the 27th November 1918 to Temporary Warrant Officer Class 2 Artificer and posted the same day to Shoeburyness. At the age of 50 he was demobilised on the 31st January 1920 at Shoeburyness to his home at 5 St Andrews Road Shoeburyness. In December 1944 he was living with his wife at 131 Richmond Avenue, Shoeburyness, Essex. He passed away on the 20th December 1944. His younger brother Albert served with the 5th Lancers.
