UTLEY, Arthur Frankland

UTLEY, Arthur Frankland, Bandsman 318002 470th Coy, Labour Corps, formerly 3/9223, Yorkshire Regiment died 23rd April 1918 aged 40. he was the husband of Effie of 10, North Eastern Terrace, Dringhouses, Yorkshire. He is at rest in Thirsk Cemetery, Yorkshire. Some notes from what remains of his Army record from 1896 to 1914. No record has been found to cover the great war period. He enlisted at the age of 15 years and 8 months as Private 5239, 2nd Yorkshire Regiment on the 15th July 1896. He was Bandsman on the 29th August 1907 when he re-engaged to complete 21 years service with the Yorkshire Regiment. He was discharged at his own request as Bandsman on the 5th August 1914 after serving 18 years and 22 days. His military history sheet shows that he was at home (Uk) from the 15th July 1896 to 25th November 1896. India from the 26th November 1896 to 15th February 1906
From the 16th February 1906 to 10th March 1906 he was at ? unable to make out the name of the county, which is quite long.

On the 20th February 1913 he passed his stretcher bearer class at Deepcut Army Barracks.
His next of kin was his father Edward and mother Sarah Jane of 29, Layerthorpe, York . His wife Effie, nee Marshall, spinster, was now his next of kin. He was married on the 27th December 1910 at York.
