They first appeared in July 1944 and by the Autumn equipped the Carrier Platoons of most British and Canadian Infantry Divisions in NW Europe, with deliveries also being made to formations in Italy.
There were two variants of the Flame Thrower Carrier. this one has the fuel tanks at the rear the other type that I have seen had the tanks inside the crew compartment.
this one is a MkIIC & the flame carriers were designated 'Wasp'
The Mk IIC (C for Canadian) had a single 75 gallon fuel tank on the rear of the vehicle outside the armour protection, allowing a third crew member to be carried.
